Community Partners for Youth is a non-profit public benefit organization dedicated to creating a healthy school and community partnership to help educate and support at-risk 9th and 10th grade teens so they stay in school and learn to develop, articulate and achieve personal goals.
Research shows that gang members rarely graduate from high school and they influence others who might; Non-gang members often drop out because of the company they keep; Most youth-related crimes occur between 3 pm and 6 pm. To help address these issues, CCPY provides 2 youth centers staffed after school to attend to the direct needs of students in the program while also providing and promoting a safe environment. While daily attendance is not required, many pro-social development and academic supporting activities occur at CCPY after school. Additionally, through mentoring and special activities youth are guided to make their own choices, discover their own visions, and recognize that they are accountable for their actions and decisions. By placing the accountability in their hands, they begin to gain control over their own futures.
CCPY’S programs provide youth participants with building blocks to raise their self-esteem, while teaching and coaching them to set goals and objectives for their lives that they wouldn’t otherwise dream possible.
CCPY's core programs offer on-site, after-school life-skills mentoring within the context of proven curriculum, which builds a culture of personal and community accountability, and fosters meaningful long-term relationships with caring and professional adults.
